She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Archuleta, which she affectionately called, "lover.” Survived by her children, Richard (Malena) Archuleta, Lynn Archuleta (Patrick Martinez), 8 grandchildren, Catherine Burke (Ross Burke) Loren Archuleta (Gabriela Archuleta) Jaylen Archuleta, Patrick Anaya-Martinez, Kaytlen Archuleta, Timothy Martinez, (Isaac Martinez, deceased) and Randall Martinez and 3 great grandchildren, Elise Archuleta, Rowan Burke, and Benjamin Archuleta. She is survived by three siblings.
Evelyn was born in Fort Garland, Colorado and grew up in the San Luis Valley and later settled in Walsenburg, Colorado. Where she met the love of her life, Richard Archuleta. They moved to Denver in the late 1970's and established a life in North Denver. They raised their family in the same home for over 45 years.
Evelyn retired from the residential mortgage industry and became a full time hands on grandma and helped her adult children with child care so that they could work full time. She loved bowling and was known to be the secretary of quite a few bowling leagues, often at the same time. She loved country line dancing and was even in competitive line dancing competitions with her husband. They were best known for their dancing skills and always had many spectators as they whipped around the dance floor; they were often called upon to lead their family and friends wedding march dances. And she was a HUGE Broncos fan!
She was heartbroken when she lost her husband in 2010 from Cancer. She found herself in a new place without her partner of many years. She pursued some new things that she hadn't experienced in her life until then. She went on several vacations with her adult children and grandchildren, went to New York where she got to visit the famous Carlos Bakery that she had seen on TV, went on a Cruise, went to Disneyland and Disney World and the loved visiting the beaches even though she wasn't a big fan of the water. She was the matriarch of all the family gatherings and led the blessing at each holiday dinner. She loved her family immensely and worried about them even more.
She will be missed dearly!
