John Martinez, 64, passed away on Thursday November 27, 2014 at University of Colorado Hospital.

John Manuel Martinez was born on February 10, 1950 in Greeley, Colorado, to Julian and Bertha Martinez. He grew up in Erie, Colorado, and attended Manuel High School in Denver. He worked as an upholsterer at Shafer Commercial Seating for over 20 years.

He married Shirley Ann Fay on October 17, 1979. They shared over 43 blessed years together. John loved his wife, eight children and 25 grandchildren and great grandchildren with his whole heart.

John was brave, joyful, funny, and loving. He loved the Lord, and spoke of Him even in his last breath. John was so proud of his children, and took such joy in being a father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, music, and watching sports, especially his Denver Broncos. He loved to tell jokes and laughed with his whole soul… especially at his own jokes. He was notorious for handing out nicknames to his family and friends. John will be missed each and every day, by each and every person whose lives he touched. We love him and look forward to the day we will be reunited with him in heaven.

John is survived by his wife, Shirley Martinez. His children, Mylous "Mike" Shellie, John, Beau Leslie, Tony "Round Head", Zeke "Duke" Angelica, Desiree "Lucy" Hector, Ray Emily, daughter-in-law Teva, his 25 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Siblings Mike, Pauline, Julian "Pal", Sally, Joe, Trudy, Danny.
John is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Melinda and Gregory, and his daughter Janeene.

Funeral services will be held at Funeraria Latina, 3020 Federal Blvd, Denver 80211 at 10:30AM on Tuesday, December 9th. There will be a short viewing at this time and services will commence at 11:00AM. John will be buried in Erie Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Erie, Colorado.
