Steve was born in the small town of La Junta, Colorado, but grew up in Denver. He is the father of Elizabeth Bibiano, Stephanie Montoya, and Samuel Perez. The son of DeAnn Montoya, William Sherman, and Richard Lucero. He leaves behind his siblings Crystal Jaramillo (Ray Jaramillo), Brian Montoya (Jamie Martinez), Richard Montoya (Loretta Sanchez); nephew's Nathan, Austin, Richie, and Tristan; nieces Gabby, Tatiana, Juliana, and Frankie; grandchildren Aspen Rae and Lila Rose.
Everyone that knew Steve, knew he was an artist. That was his life's passion and brought him the most joy. You were privileged if he shared his creations with you and had a long conversation about pretty much anything. He was a very intelligent man and if there was something he wanted to know how to do, he mastered it from being a business owner in 20s, a mechanic, and welder.
If you were blessed to spend anytime with Steve, he had a great sense of humor and there was always a lot of laughter and possibly tears. He wore his heart on his sleeve and befriended everyone he met.
Steve was loved unconditionally by his family and friends. No matter what trials or tribulations he went through, their love and hope in him never wavered. He will be missed, but never forgotten.
