Valerie "Val" Nadia Uzcategui nee Steinman died in her home on December 31, 2014, in Westminster, Colorado at the age of 62. Valerie is survived by her husband of 40 years, Leonardo; her daughter Jessica; her son Adrian; and four grandchildren, Evan, Solana, Melina, and Lilia. She is preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Mary, and her sister Nancy.

Valerie was born on May 12, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan. She married Leonardo Uzcategui in 1974 in Caracas, Venezuela, and they traveled widely together. Valerie and her family lived in Caracas, Venezuela; Endicott, New York; Valencia, Spain; Owego, New York; Georgetown, Texas; and Westminster, Colorado. Valerie loved to laugh, to hike, to cook, to spend time with family and friends, and to drive her little blue convertible. Valerie's kindness and humor touched all who knew her. She will be remembered for the love and affection she nurtured in others.

A Funeral Service is scheduled for January 7, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Horan & McConaty, 3020 Federal Blvd., Denver, Colorado.
